Where has the time gone? Labor Day weekend is around the corner,
and it’s the perfect time to relax with family and friends and enjoy the final
days of summer before school starts for you and/or your kids. Contemplating
what to do? Celebrate the weekend with these five fun events and activities.
Day at the
lake
Utah is home to many outdoor wonders, including many lakes and
reservoirs. If you love the water, plan a day at the lake to enjoy the final
days of warm weather. Get your friends and family together and go boating. If
you don’t own one, have everyone pitch in to rent a boat, jet skis, or other
water toys. There’s definitely something for everyone. Fishing, relaxing on a
tube, playing in the sand, and taking turns doing water activities. Since we
don’t have a beach in Utah, a lake is going to be the closest thing to that.
Enjoy the water before it gets too cold.
Theme park
Plan a fun-filled weekend with your kids before they have to head
back to school. Stop by Lagoon, Boondocks, Seven Peaks, Cowabunga Bay, or any
other family-friendly destinations to have a fun time! Let your kids enjoy some
rides, games, the water park, bowling, and more before they have to start doing
their homework.
National
Park
We have five national parks in Utah—Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol
Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. A weekend trip to any these beautiful parks is a
must do before the summer ends. Many people plan their long weekend getaways to
visit the parks, so it’s important to plan ahead for the busy holidays. Make
sure to reserve a camping spot in advance if you plan to camp, book a room if you
plan to stay at a nearby hotel, check hours, check road closures, etc.
Family
Barbecue
Plan
a family barbecue at your house and enjoy relaxing and feasting. Open up your
grill, get some food prepared, and start grilling. If you don’t want to do all
the planning and cooking, make it a potluck style event and have everyone bring
a food dish—appetizers, fruits, desserts, and salads to name a few. Plan some
games and get some prizes to make the game competitive. This is a great way to
get the family together and to enjoy the night.
We hope these ideas help you to start planning for your
Labor Day weekend. As always, we’re here for your car needs, so make sure to
stop by before you start any of your adventures to make sure your vehicle is in
good shape. Have a fun and safe Labor Day!
