Getting in a car accident is not only scary, but also
discouraging if you do not know what steps to take after an accident. General
Manager, Kasey Webster and Murray Collision Center Manager, Tiffany Kuntz from Larry H.Miller Chevrolet in Murray share simple tips on ways to be prepared if you find
yourself in this undesirable situation.
If damages have occurred to your car, where should you take
your vehicle for repairs? Although your insurance may suggest a certain repair
shop, you can do more research and pick a place that works best for you. And if
you would like to pay out-of-pocket for the repairs made to your vehicle, there
are shops that will let you do so, like the Collision Center at Larry H. Miller
Chevrolet in Murray.
While your vehicle is being repaired, you will need a car to
drive in the meantime. Tiffany shares that most auto policies have the option
for rental coverage that is typically only a few extra dollars a month, which
allows you to have a rental car while yours is being fixed. She reiterates the
importance of asking about your coverage to ensure you are given a rental that
fits the car size that you need.
It is also crucial to specify in your policy if you would
like OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or alternative parts used to fix
your vehicle. Some repair shops only carry OEM, while others use a mix of both.
Kasey also suggests calling your insurance agent today to make sure you are
covered for everything you might need before it’s too late.
